Petitioning for RUOP Non-Hispanic Health Topic or GHIP Credit for the III-Scholarly Project of the HHP

Potentially credit can be attained by completing a paper that links your project to the overall goals of the HHP. You will need to alert the administrator of the HHP if you intend to seek dual credit. Below are questions that are helpful when completing your paper.

If you completed Global Health work with a Hispanic population abroad

What population numbers are there for this Hispanic population in your home state site? WWAMI wide?
Are the Hispanics you worked with similar to the groups you might work with in your home state and WWAMI?
If the number of Hispanics in your home area is low, where are there largest groups of these Hispanics in the US?
Can the types of Hispanics you worked with be lumped in with all or other Hispanic groups within the US? Or do they function differently than other more prevalent groups, such as Mexicans?

How does the community you immersed yourself in during your project relate to the community of patients that you will be caring for in your future practice?
What lessons learned from completing your project can be used in your future practice regardless of a direct connection to a racial/ethnic group?
How do you intend to continue to improve your clinical work with the lessons learned from your global health work?

If you completed a RUOP that did not specifically address Hispanic populations

What are the numbers of Hispanics living in the community where you completed your RUOP? City? County?
Are there any papers or studies discussing about how to engage Hispanic communities in a similar fashion to your RUOP work? Were there successes? What approaches worked?

What would you have done differently had you focused your RUOP on Hispanic populations?

How does the community you immersed yourself in during your project relate to the community of patients that you will be caring for in your future practice?
What lessons learned from completing your project can be used in your future practice regardless of a direct connection to a racial/ethnic group?
How do you intend to continue to improve your clinical work with the lessons learned from your RUOP?
